A lot of the problems I had are because I am making mistakes related to Joomla, and that I am only familiar enough with ProjectFork to be able to modify the design part of it.
I think (not sure) that this theme is included with the joomlapraise template that is designed for running ProjectFork. After I got the theme, I discovered the template and subscribed to get the template.
I looked at a dozen project components for Joomla and after trying all the demos, ProjectFork absolutely is best at basic project milestones, assigning tasks, managing who does what, communicating across team members. This theme, and the template, really make a great interface package (how it looks to my team members).
The template, assigned to only ProjectFork (if this suits you), the component (and the integrated theme) is a top-notch combination for a dedicated "site" (some refer to it as an Intranet). When we are logged into this combo, we are isolated from all of our other files related to our work (but only a click away, using a menu item to take you back out of project). My idea is to have everyone log into the project system for their daily task assignments, updates, progress, and this really does it!
For $75 for all of it (and access to many other products that look like they are worth trying), this whole "suite" is a winner for way less than the competitors bulky buggy offerings.
