Product Description:

The automatic shortlink generator for Joomla! Easily set whether the links should be random or sequential, the length of links, and ability to create custom shortlinks. Automatically inserts shortlink tag on each page, and can show in "Follow Us On Twitter" module. You can see the module at the top of every page of CMS Market.

UShorten is a very dynamic component allowing you to create shortlinks for any page on your site. The shortlinks can be manually created (ex: faq, news), automatically generated for any page encountered, or a combination of the two. Additionally, it's simple to restrict "Registered" areas, certain components, or other areas of your site from having shortlinks automatically created for them. With UShorten, you can always be assured there is a shortlink for the pages you want them to be on.

How to create a Short URL

1. Manually enter the Short URL mapping on the Joomla backend for the UShorten component, or
2. Allow UShorten to generate random or sequential URL's by enabling the "Generate Short URLs" parameter and configuring how you want the automatic shortlinks to look.

Redirection for even shorter URLs

A parameter lets you specify your domain name to allow creating even shorter shortlinks. Whether you just want to remove the www or use a different shortlink domain altogether, as long as it redirects to your Joomla site, you can use it with UShorten. For example, our root domain is http://www.cmsmarket.com, but in UShorten, we specified it as http://cmsmarket.com, saving 4 characters from each shortlink. Later, if we decide to register http://cmsmkt.im, we can update the parameter, and all of our shortlinks will update automatically!

Current state

Right now, UShorten is being released as a Release Candidate. We've tested with both Joomla SEF and non-SEF URLs, along with some other configurations. It works great for us, but we'll do everything we can to make it work for you too if you run into issues.
